ISDN Alarm System - Switch to VoIP
Telecommunication providers such as Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone are converting, or have already converted, all ISDN telephone connections to IP technology.
With the majority of alarm and various sensor alert systems, which perform their alert calls based on ISDN, the connection to the alarm central can no longer be established due to this conversion. The issue here is not directly within the systems themselves, but in the interface that is being switched from ISDN to the IP protocol.
The system sends an analog identification via the ISDN connection in the event of an alarm forward. However, these analog identifiers cannot be easily transferred via the IP protocol.
In some cases, the system can be upgraded with new modules; in the worst-case scenario, you may need to invest in a new system.
When choosing a new notification system or purchasing additional modules, it's recommended to also consider modern alternatives for alarm calls or other notification forms, such as Mobile Push. iLert's on-call service offers the most flexible possibilities for notification and on-call scheduling, and it can replace expensive VoIP modules/contracts.
